When I started Techaeris over ten-years ago, I was working a full-time job. I would work from 7am until 3:30pm (with a 1.5 hour roundtrip commute), rinse and repeat. And on top of that job, I would come home and put another four or five hours into Techaeris. I did that for four years, and I worked Saturdays and Sundays too.
In 2018, I was able to quit my full-time job and put my time into Techaeris. You would think that my workload might have gotten better, but it stayed about the same. I worked from 7am until 7:30pm and on Saturdays and Sundays.
So I’ve been keeping a work schedule of 12+ hour days for a very long time.
Recently, I noticed the toll these long hours with no days off was taking on my mental health as well as my family’s health. So I decided that Sundays would be a mandatory day off for me, and my family.
Now, we all take Sunday off. We go to church, eat a nice lunch, spend time playing board games, we watch a movie or old TV show, and we just spend time together. We don’t get on social media, the internet, or any sort of news source. It has been an absolute joy and has helped with the stresses of life.
So, it’s Sunday….why am I here on Substack?
Presently, the kids are catching up on some school work they’ve let languish, so I thought I would jump on to get a piece of content out. But I think I will get back to relaxing and find an old 80s movie to watch. Since most of the drivel produced today is unwatchable.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and welcome to my new followers and subs. Be blessed!
